Why We Are Not a Reseller

By Tim Mandell and Crystal J. Milburn

Our COO/CRO, Tim, has lived a thousand business lives, extrapolating and learning along the way. One hard truth is that none of us get to put in that kind of time and effort without a few good lessons. One of his lessons was the importance of defining a niche.

“A long time ago, someone asked me a simple question; what does your company do? After explaining to a peer group of CEOs what I was up to, I realized that my answer wasn’t simple. It was in that moment that I realized I had fifty-plus individuals in my company trying to execute everything that I thought was a clever idea. Be it that it may, we were never going to be good at all of them and, more importantly, our “elevator pitch” would have to stop at every floor of the Willis Tower (a.k.a. Sears Tower). I knew that wasn’t going to work long-term so we pivoted and carved our niche.,” he recalls.

Crypto Services + Our Niche

The list of service offerings in the crypto space is not terribly long. It includes:

  • Colocation/Miner Hosting – Space/Power/Airflow (DC Mining’s niche)

  • ASIC Miners and GPU Machines

  • Power Systems

  • Cooling Systems (Air/Liquid/Immersion)

  • Insurance/Risk Management

  • Brokerage

  • Electrical Systems

  • Mining Containers

  • Software

  • Mining Pools/Exchanges

  • Reseller/Partner Agreements

In an effective way, the Bitcoin (BTC) mining industry is a bit incestuous. We all talk to each other, making the ability to connect people with what they need very easy. Since many of these connections offer reseller and partner agreements, we are easily able to refer you to the right place for those services.

Why We Are Strictly a Miner Hosting Facility

We have our reasons for not playing in the reseller space. And, while we never say never, below are the top reasons we prefer to give versus receive.

Unbiased

Our customers mean the world to us and showing any bias towards one solution or another outside of our hosting and building data centers is a disservice to them.

Humility

We can never fully understand and explain the benefits of another company’s product like they can. Hello, imposter syndrome!

Trust

Making thoroughly vetted recommendations and introductions doesn’t leave anyone wondering who is getting a piece of the pie before it is served to you. That only muddies the waters, in our opinion.

Confidence

Our product is the execution of the mining process and the most critical; diluting that does not instill confidence. In other words, we cannot bring you the best colocation/miner hosting facilities if our attention is diverted.

Integrity

Lastly, being a reseller just doesn’t feel right for us. We’re attuned to our core values and doing the right thing (even when no one is looking and it doesn’t feel good) is one of them.

We’ve been doing this a long time and the majority of businesses in this space have good intentions and want to point people in the right direction. DC Mining doesn’t do it all nor do we pretend to! We’ve honed in on our niche (colocation/miner hosting) and we do it very well. If you have any questions about what we do and do not offer, please reach out. We love talking shop with you!
